Objectives:
CLA’s Corporate & Community workgroup is creating opportunities to more effectively communicate with external partners. We determined the need for a vehicle that would allow the College to present sponsorship opportunities to potential partners, while also providing important information about CLA to make the case that organizations should partner with us. The result was this folder–a piece that is unique, tells the story of the College in a compelling way, has the flexibility of providing information inside the folder tailored to a specific audience, and can be used by various staff and faculty throughout the College in their interactions with external partners.

Outcomes:

We have a resource that can be used across CLA to enhance our ability to engage with external partners and tell the CLA story. We believe that the Partnership Folder was a success based on how its been used and the reactions it has received. For example:

The folder was shared at a meeting of Corporate and Foundation Relations staff from across the University, including staff from the University of Minnesota Foundation, and many indicated that they might borrow our concept. In addition, it positively impacted their perception of CLA.

The folder was provided to all employers at the CLA Career and Internship Fair with additional information inside about Career Readiness and recruiting at the University.

The Dean and staff in development, alumni relations, employer relations, and public engagement have all used the folder when engaging with external partners.

Resources:
An internal team contributed to the content development. Design was done in house. Printing costs were $1,092.33 for 800 folders.
